Editorial Reviews:

Wuhan splashes have a distinct and unmistakable character. Thinner than conventional cymbals, the produce a breathy wash of overtones for a comfortable cushion of sound. Pack includes an 8" and 10" splash.

Summary: Splish Splash without taking a bath
Comment: I have been drumming for 40+ years and have hand selected 7 Zildjians that have been serving me faithfully. I am very particular with the sound of my cymbals and would typically reject 20 before finding one with just the right sound. That said, I was on line browsing one night and happened to catch some reviews of Wuhan products. I was fascinated by the high praise and low price. After spending a couple thousand dollars on my Zildjians, I figured, at this price, if I don't like them I can give them away and not feel bad about it. Well I wound up buying the 8" and 10" splashes as well as a 12" China, and while I wouldn't replace my Zildjians with these, they are a great way to augment the tonal possibilities in any drummer's kit. So far they have held up well, look great, and have a unique pleasant sound. While all three cymbal have an oriental tonal flavor to them, they make a nice contrasting sound to my other cymbals, and nice bite, especially at the price. If I was to make a recommendation to a young drummer working on a budget, I would suggest that you save your money and get a good quality ride, crash, and set of Hi Hats. If you buy quality and pick them well, they will serve you a lifetime. Once you have your basics however, save yourself some bucks and buy Wuhan. In terms of bang for the buck, these are one of the best investments I have ever made.

Summary: Great cymbals at any price
Comment: I am an accomplished drummer with over 20 years experience and I could not do without my Wuhan splashes. Both have a crisp sound and a quick decay - essential in a splash. The price is far under the value. A great buy.

Summary: Good value, yet somewhat lacking in quality
Comment: The good news is the fact that both of these cynbals are decent enough to be worth buying, and that you now have the option of saving money by buying both of them together. The tone is very unique and although tastes may vary, I'm sure the average drummer will not be totally disappointed. In purchasing both cymabls together in this special pack, you save 25% off the cost of buying them separately! Both cymbals produce a full, warm tone, while not sounding too similar to eachother. The 10" is my personal favorite, but I am glad that the 8" was still able to create a solid bite.

So what are the downsides? The cymbals, as I have mentioned, are rich, warm, and full-bodied. For those of you who do not know, the warmer and darker the cymbal, the thinner the cymbal. It's sort of a catch 22 that comes with nicer soundin cymbals- and yes, both fo these splashes are thin. As a result, they are prone to breaking easily, and wuhan's have sort of developed a reputation for breaking with far from extensive use. But for the price, I can safely say that you will not be let down much by this pack, especially since they sound so nice. If they break within the first 4 months, as mine did, save up again and buy another if you liked them.

I hope this review was helpful.

Summary: Great value, good sound, but not quite what I was looking for
Comment: I wanted a splash cymbal for effect. I reviewed dozens of reviews for various name brands. I was struck by the positive reviews for the Wuhan pack, and so I bought it.

I agree that these cymbals are a great value -- $30 for 2 well-made cymbals is a great deal. They are very thin yet quite sturdy. I've beaten them hard, and aside from some marks from the drumstick heads, not a dent. I really like having the 2 different tones to work with. I have the 8" on top of the 10" using a cymbal stacker. While the decay is a bit longer than other splashes I've played in the past, it is quickly buried under the sound of the other drums (unlike a crash or ride).

As one review I read somewhere had put it, the sound is less like a traditional splash and a bit more like a China. It went on to say that, with use, they sound more like splashes over time. I'll have to wait and see if this is the case. In the meantime, I am very much enjoying the additional effect I get with this inexpensive duo.

I bought these splash cymbals along with several other items.

- Gibraltar Grabber Cymbal Arm
- Pacific Drums by DW P/D 700 Boom Cymbal Stand
- Gibraltar Mini Cymbal Stacker, 6 Inches
- Wuhan WUSP0810 Traditional & Rock Splash Cymbal Pack

Overall, this combination cost me just under $100 including S&H from Musician's Friend through Amazon. It was the least expensive option I could find, short of buying this equipment used.
